Yeah, cool options. For the release we hope to include some of those and other options to help the player adaptation to hostile (or not) conditions

Great job!
But as I said some time ago, in another thread and because you mention it here again ("regarding visual aspects or with respect to interactivity"),
it would be nice if we could have a slider where we can set things accordingly to our wishes:
Lets say we have in the options menue the following:
Ships
Animation Speed : – -----------||--------------------- +
Frequency of occurence : – -----------||--------------------- +
. . . .
Birds
Animation Speed : – -----------||--------------------- +
Frequency of occurence : – -----------||--------------------- +
. . . .
Moving leaves
Animation Speed : – -----------||--------------------- +
. . . .
Night&day
Animation Speed : – -----------||--------------------- +
. . . .
Moving Clouds
Animation Speed : – -----------||--------------------- +
. . . .
This way we could tailor our own pace of the colony view.
This would be an awesome addition to your already awesome random generated colony view!- Helpful x 1

It would also be likely what would need to happen in "real" space colonization as well.
Another consideration is that for atmospheres that have high pressure (ex: Venus like), everything might be in the shape of spheres or domes.- Agree x 1

Sehr geehrter Khan !

The only thing I could add would be slight variations to the structures based upon planetary type. After all a barren landscape would need atmospheric domes versus, a swamp that might require elevated trams but no domes, or a lava world where heat shielding would be needed in conjunction to pressurized domes. The fine thread to keep in mind would be that the style of construction would be similar enough to always be associated with a particular race. For some races this may be steel, glass, and composites; others might "grow" their buildings from biomass or crystal components.

Thanks for you insight on this -
But you can even decimate the number trees if the pollution is going up, but on the other hand have to generate more if the planet is gaia
But to gain more fps, you could draw those sprites/objects as a 2D instead of 3D.
If in 3D, make bigger branches, it would fit to the whole ISG graphics.
When I observe correct, those leaves are very tiny, the branches too much, please no offense, but what I mean is this in comparison:
The first has a high polygon count, the others have way less. ok, there would be no animation possile. Maybe a falling apple
What do you think, it would fit better to the whole design of the game
And when I am at it, for sure Night&day and sunrise as well as a moon and a sun or two at the horizon would make it an eyedropper.
I would prefer those slowmo effects (jus as time goes by) instead of moving leafs or that much of passing spaceships.

Sehr geehrtes Forum,

I’ve been reading these wonderful comments and thinking hard about them. It seems like such a simple issue to resolve, but is it?
Let me go back to the inspiration here, MoO2 and Imperium Galactica 2. Both had a very pleasing and immersive colony view, yet in both cases the colony view represented a City, not a planet.
The reason why is fairly obvious isn’t it? How do you accurately represent an entire planet, yet keep it fun and immersive?
You could show a map of continents for example and have sprites represent all the buildings but your sense of scale would be very distorted.
You could require that a player zooms in to a spot to actually see the buildings and cities (in order to keep a sense of scale), but that would be quite a lot of work to execute properly, set the different levels needed (planet view, continent view, area view, city view, etc), and it may not be rewarding in the end.
Just to be clear, I love my colony view, always did, and though I play quite a lot of SEV, I still prefer the MoO2, IG2 approach where I’m looking at a city that grows over time instead of a pretty list, but that’s only a matter of taste of course.
Malrey is correct by the way, The first colony on Mars will be at a single location, a single city if you will, however over time there would be others as well.
So what to do?
Well I think that’s obvious too (at this stage anyway). If you’ve played MoO2 or IG2 you know that the suggested way of depicting the colony view works quite well, it may not be perfect, but it is a great compromise between a spreadsheet and an accurate depiction. I think that for now, the focus should stay here and all the ideas kept on the shelf for a nice DLC after release.
When I look at ISG objectively, it is shaping up to be a very feature rich game that will offer a fully working and complete tittle at release. It won’t be like some tittles that intentionally sell a half a game at release and the other half through constant DLCs in order to pick your pocket. I love ISG for this, I respect the integrity of the devs for this, it’s why I support them.
DLCs and expansions that will be coming from ISG will be a perfect place then to offer some great innovative goodies, that won’t be a must to have, but rather dependent on taste. A perfect place for actual ground combat, real minor races, and of course, an actual planetary approach to the Colony view.- Agree x 4

You are welcome. Glad you answered and understood what I meant. Good to hear your explanation as well. So in this case, I know that is intended as a first colony and others are spread all over the planet at good locations. Thanks for clarifying!

Yeah, I understand your point of view about the possible views of the colony. As you say, when a planet is colonized it may exist more settlements all over the globe, it makes sense in a realistic point of view of course. What MoO did was to create the view of the colony start scenario, where the colony foundation starts in a specific place and where everything, or the most important compounds, develops through time. We like that. We imagine that the first colony in Mars will be in a specific place during a lot of time. Synergies will need to be there in the beginning and that is essential for the initial boost of the colony. That's in the human imagination i guess. We want to inject that in the game. The human dream of colonizing a planet will start in one place for sure.
But of course, we're in a more advanced scifi scenario, so, what can we do or what have we done already to create that broader colony sense ? For instance, the transit ships in the skies give the idea that there are other places in the colony. Despite the capital is what we see, there are ships that go and comes from some civilian and industrial compounds that are spread over the globe.
Your ideas were great, your concern of having an intermediate global view of the colony is interesting for total immersion, but of course, all depends on time and available man power to to that in a feasible time, and of course to do it well. Maybe for a 'colony expansion' who knows!?. We took down notes about this. Many thanks !- Agree x 2

Siehe Bild/Fotomontage ISG/MOO:

Relating colony status (garbage around, erosion and broken stuff, etc) with lack of infrastructure development is another nice idea.
We plan on reflecting the ecological and terraforming state on the colony by the way, but that's yet to come
Yes, what you see in Pre-Alpha 10 (the March build) is quite outdated now. The environments have been reworked and there's buildings now. That said, there's still a lot to do afterwards. We'll take all the feedback into consideration as well.
Rogue planets showing less light on the colony surface than planets that receive light from a nearby star is also a nice idea. In fact, the idea to show different color tones on the planet surface, depending on the type of star the planet orbits, is also on the works.
Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming!- Agree x 2

Anmerkung vom 17.09.
